FRS (Family Radio Service) refers to a personal radio system with designated frequencies that allows individuals to operate radio transmitters and receivers with no special license or individual authorization.
GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) radio transmission requires a license issued by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The license is good for 10 years.
